Solar Eclipse

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is hosting a series of talks to celebrate the rare solar eclipse that will happen over Albuquerque on the last Saturday of this year’s Balloon Fiesta!

Find out why eclipses happen, what is special about this one, and most importantly, learn how to view it safely.

This particular program will be presented by museum Space Science Director, Jim Greenhouse. He will describe the coincidences which will come together and make this eclipse a historic event for New Mexico.

Price: Included with Museum and Planetarium Admission
Five more eclipse talks will be held in the Planetarium before the October 14 eclipse:
  • Friday, September 1, 4 p.m. in the Planetarium
  • Thursday, September 14, 1 p.m. in the Planetarium
  • Wednesday, September 20, 1 p.m. in the Planetarium
  • Saturday, September 30; time and location to be announced.
  • Thursday, October 5; time and location to be announced.
